Level envisions a world in which all people in prison have access to accessible, high quality job training and educational content. To accomplish this, our team applies creativity, collaboration, experience and out-of-the-box thinking.

Alex Wright
Executive Director, Board Member
Alex co-founded Level and serves as its executive director. He is an experienced entrepreneur and product developer with a decade of experience in community powered prison literacy and education. He is a former board member with Inside Books Project, one of the country’s largest prison literacy programs, and a former member of the Coalition on Adult Basic Education's Prison Literacy committee. Alex received a BA from Tufts University and The School Of The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Massachusetts.

Demetrius James
Content Creator, Board Member
Demetrius graduated from Bard Prison Initiative in 2017 with a Bachelor of the Arts in Literature in the Humanities. He began working with Level as a content developer and advisor in 2021. Demetrius’s experience managing academic success in the challenging environments of incarceration adds an important perspective to Level’s board and content team.

Kate Mullan
Director of Content, Board Member
Kate co-founded Level and provides a responsive and consistent learning experience as Level’s director of content development. She also creates consumer education material as a Policy Analyst at the federal Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Kate brings a decade of experience in curriculum development and program evaluation to Level’s board and content development team.

Michael Pledger
Content Creator
Michael excels at making complex topics accessible and digestible. He has tutored math, science, and writing for several years, and facilitated anger control classes. He received an AA from Bard Prison Initiative in 2019 and his BA in Mathematics from Bard College in 2021.

Sarah Pollock
Program Manager
Sarah manages Level’s day-to-day operations including the distribution and the sponsorship programs. She is experienced in administrative, legislative and nonpartisan work in state and county governments and nonprofit organizations. Sarah is a native Texan and creative problem-solver who prioritizes clarity and respect when she communicates with staff, sponsors and learners. She earned her BA in Communication and Psychology from the University of California, Davis and her Master of Public Affairs from the LBJ School at the University of Texas at Austin.

Suzi Sosa
Board President
Suzi is a social entrepreneur. She is currently the President and co-founder of PaulHood, a fintech company helping tens of thousands of people across the US strengthen their financial health. Previously she was the founder and CEO of Verb, an online leadership development platform. Suzi won the 2014 Ernst & Young Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award and formerly led the Social Entrepreneurship program at the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin. Suzi has an MPA in International Development from the JFK School of Government at Harvard and she resides in Austin, Texas.
